Manisha and Lucy are enthusiastic Educational Supervisors who will ensure you have a fantastic year with us by providing excellent clinical opportunities and a high level of support.
Manisha has been with the practice since 2005 and brings a great wealth of experience to the ES role. Manisha has been an MJDF examiner since 2011 and is a good mentor for anyone wishing to take this exam.
Lucy has been at the practice since 2010, and has worked as an Oral and Maxillofacial surgery SHO. She was a newly appointed DFT ES in 2018 at the practice after working previously as a VTE mentor. Both Manisha and Lucy are friendly, approachable and always on hand to provide any level of support needed whilst encouraging independent practice and decision making.
Practice Information:
Chipping Manor has six surgeries, staffed by a team of five dentists supported by a therapist and two hygienists. In fact, three of these dentists carried out their Foundation Dentist Training at Chipping Manor and have stayed or returned to become associates. The practice is predominately NHS and plays a prominent role in the local community and with the dental charity Bridge2Aid. The DF1 has dedicated support from a team of committed, enthusiastic nurses who have extensive experience working with newly qualified dentists. The surgery is air conditioned and fully equipped and computerised with digital intra/extra-oral radiographs. There is also the facility to provide relative analgesia, IV Sedation, Implants and Private Orthodontics at the practice.
The practice is part of the Rodericks group which provides on going support and training days for DF1s and the potential for career opportunities at the end of the year.
Location and Living:
Wotton-under-Edge is a picturesque town on the edge of the Cotswolds. It is easily commutable from Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and surrounding areas. There is parking available at the practice, there is very limited public transport and own transport is essential.

Dave Stone graduated from Cardiff University in 2011. During his studies, he used his entrepreneurial spirit and keen interest in business to set up UKloupes.co.uk. He is a GDP with experience in NHS and Private dentistry with a particular interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, short-term orthodontics and dental implants.

Avon House Dental Practice has been located on Keynsham High Street for nearly 50 years and has a solid base of loyal patients. There are currently three surgeries with the FD surgery being the biggest and lightest of them! Our experienced team includes two dentists and a dental hygienist/therapist. The practice is recently computerized and utilizes digital radiography.
Location and Living:
The practice is situated less than 5 minutes walk from Keynsham train station, which is on the main London-Bristol rail line. It is easily accessible by public transport and by car, being located midway between Bristol and Bath. Keynsham is also a short ride from the main Bristol-Bath cycle path which makes for a nice commute in the Summer months.

Educational Supervisor:
Katie qualified from Bristol University in 1997. She worked as an associate for 5 years before she set up Oldland Dental Practice in 2003 as the principal dentist. In 2001 she gained her Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies. Katie was first appointed as an Educational Supervisor in 2006.
Katie also works as an honorary clinical teacher at Bristol Dental School where she teaches 3rd, 4th and 5th year dental students Child Dental Health. In 2012 Katie gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education.
Katie has always worked in general practice, and enjoys the variation and challenges working in practice brings but particularly enjoys prosthetics, oral surgery, and children’s dentistry.

The practice has been established since 2003, and over the years has gradually expanded to 4 surgeries, having 5 dentists (including 2 FDs) and a hygienist. The practice offers affordable and quality dental care in a friendly, relaxed environment and is proud to be small and independent.
The practice is fully computerised and all surgeries are fully equipped with digital x-rays, and rotary endodontics. The practice is easily accessible to wheelchair users. There are two spacious ground floor surgeries and disabled toilet facilities. There is also a DPT machine, a dedicated decontamination room and on-site parking.
Location and Living:
Oldland Common is a busy village located between Bristol and Bath, which makes it easily accessible from both cities. The practice is located in a beautiful, detached Victorian building in the heart of the village and has good road links with the M4, Keynsham train station and other routes. Most FDs have chosen to live in Bristol, but it is far easier to commute from Bath to the practice. Accommodation in the immediate area is plentiful and much cheaper than the city.

Jenny qualified from Liverpool Dental School. Jenny has worked predominantly in General Practice but also for the Community Service, as an ACF and Clinical Supervisor at Peninsula Dental School. Jenny offers facial aesthetics and Invisalign at the practice. She has 4 children and enjoys running, baking and drinking wine.
Simon qualified from Liverpool Dental School and has a specialist interest in orthodontics. He places implants and enjoys and excels in oral surgery. He has 5 children and enjoys playing golf and watching rugby.
Practice Information:
The practice is very well established with a Private and NHS list, taking on new patients every week. It is a BDA good practice and has three surgeries, welcoming staff and friendly patients. It offers a new modern air conditioned surgery with fibre optics, fully computerised and digital radiography. It has an OPT, digital SLR camera, rotary endodontics, fully trained and qualified support staff with a part time Hygienist.
Location and Living:
Wincanton is a rural town with excellent road links just off the A303. It makes London a 2 hour road trip, with Bath and Bristol just 50 mins away. They are commutable but this will add to your working day. It has close rail links, but ideally your own transport is recommended.

Carl Fullaway is an enthusiastic GDP who qualified from Bristol and worked as associate in Blandford Forum until he set up the practice at Bathampton. Carl has been a trainer since 2005 and works one day a week as a clinical supervisor at Bristol Dental Hospital. He enjoys playing the French horn at the local church and is a keen supporter of charity; visiting Tanzania in 2013 with Bridge2Aid.
Practice Information:
Bathampton Dental Practice opened in 2003. It is situated within a health centre shared with a medical practice; providing a fully integrated, caring and considerate dental service. We have strong links with the doctors which can be invaluable when seeking advice on patients' medical histories and find out what "little pink tablet" the patient takes. The practice is fully computerised with three modern surgeries equipped with digital x-rays etc. There is a modern, calming feel to the building with meeting rooms, a fully functional kitchen and small garden in the middle. We try to provide a family friendly environment for patients and have a great team of receptionists and dental nurses.
Location and Living:
Bathampton is a lovely village near Bath with a couple of good pubs near the canal (ideal for a walk leading to or from Bath); the village is located off the A36 - Bath to Warminster road. There is unlimited parking around the practice and a regular bus service to and from Bath.
Further Information:
We operate an open door policy, encouraging our FD to come to us for help and advice. We try to arrange occasional visits to dental laboratories or local specialists. We aim to give FDs a gentle start to the year to enable them to get to grips with their new surgery and software etc. in a supportive low pressure environment. At various points in the year our FDs spend a bit of time nursing for the trainers, and vice versa; past FDs have found this to be very helpful. We try to ensure that FDs leave with a clear understanding and appreciation of teamwork.
We wish to provide ethical, good quality dental care with a considerate approach, encouraging preventative techniques and putting the patient at ease with a laugh or two along the way. We wish for someone with a similar outlook to join us.

Vinay qualified from Birmingham University in 2003 and was Cheddar’s first Foundation dentist. He has been a trainer an educational supervisor since 2009 and is a member of Somerset LDC.
Sinead graduated from Bristol University in 2010 and joined Cheddar Dental Practice in 2015. Vinay and Sinead enjoy all aspects of dentistry. They both commute from Bristol daily.

Aaron Thomas graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 2005. He has completed post graduate courses in medical education and oral surgery. He is Director of Coly House and has been an educational supervisor for nine years.

This recently redeveloped practice of 3 surgeries will provide you with a fully equipped, air conditioned, ambidextrous surgery and trained experienced nursing and administrative support.
We have a fully computerised practice, digital radiography, central decontamination unit, and rotary endodontics.
You will be working alongside 2 hygienists and 2 experienced dentists.
During your FD year the practice aims to support and provide for a wide range of experiences including in-house CPD events and training, and access to observational sessions with dentists who have additional skills in oral surgery, implantology, facial aesthetics , cosmetic dentistry and endodontics.

Nailsea is a friendly town in a rural location only seven miles from Bristol city centre. You have the benefit of being able to live either in Bristol or in the surrounding area. There are lots of local countryside walks and nearby is the National Trust’s Tyntesfield House and Gardens. Alternatively Nailsea has four football clubs, a cricket club, hockey club, and running club together with lots of pubs that provide real ales for that important after match drink.

Paul Woodhouse qualified from Cardiff in 1995. After 5 years in the Navy he undertook several associate positions before settling in Dorset. He is the practice owner with 10 years Foundation Training experience and an interest in orthodontics. In his spare time he is involved in his local rugby club.

The practice was opened in 1997 as a single-handed practice and now has 5 dentists, two hygienists and a dedicated team of support staff. The building is beautiful and spacious with a central sterilization area and a large comfortable staff room. The FD’s surgery is fully computerised with digital X-rays and the chair can be adjusted for a left or right-handed dentist.
Location and Living:
Located in the prosperous Abbey town of Sherborne, the FD has a great opportunity to immerse themselves in a new environment. Previous FD’s have all chosen to live in or near to the town and have found that having their own transport has been useful. Jane has worked as a GDP since qualifying from Kings College in 1990 and has been an Educational Supervisor since 2009 at her previous practice in Swindon, where she worked as an associate for over 21 years. She is now looking forward to welcoming an FD to her own brand-new practice in September. She enjoys treating children but mainly enjoys the mix of treatments found in general practice and uses this experience to supervise Bristol Dental students one day a week on their outreach placement.

The practice is a brand new 3 surgery, mixed NHS and private practice, set up in a constantly expanding residential area with plenty of patients of all ages. As you would expect from a modern practice the FDs surgery is air conditioned, fully computerized and equipped with digital radiographs, fibre optics and an ambidextrous dental chair. We have a dedicated decon room and highly experienced staff, use to supporting FDs, having moved with Jane from their previous practice. The practice is situated in Wichelstowe, a new development south of Swindon town centre and close to the M4. It has been tastefully developed with plenty of open space, lakes and a canal. There is plenty of free street parking in the neighbourhood. It is within walking distance of Old Town, the historical heart of Swindon, and the village of Wroughton on the edge of the Marlborough Downs. Due to Swindon’s location previous FDs have found it an easy commute from Bath, Bristol, Cirencester and Marlborough.
