About the Somerset Scheme
Taunton is easily accessed from the M5 and there are good rail links to London and Bristol. Exmoor National Park is close, as are the North Somerset and Devon coasts.
The study days begin with an introduction to the year and a chance to meet the other FDs and continue with a very varied programme. Looking after your back, clinical photography, personal finances and treatment planning sessions are interspersed with hands-on days covering rotary endodontics and oral surgery. All the study day sessions are designed to be as interactive as possible and FD participation is encouraged. There is the opportunity for team-building and social activity, we have a glass-blowing evening where you will be able to produce a work of art! The Taunton Trainers are involved with the study days and we meet socially.
The study days are designed to build on your existing knowledge with a strong general practice influence. The people running the sessions know what works in practice and are very enthusiastic. We have a number of joint study days with other schemes in the Region and all 7 schemes go to Longleat Center Parcs in December for a 3-day Residential course. There is a chance to visit each others' practices.
The Somerset Scheme provides committed Educational Supervisors in excellent training practices in a delightful part of the country and a great start to your career in dentistry!
