Dr. Amanda Clark

Consultant Haematologist UHBristol

 

Amanda is a Consultant Haematologist at the Bristol Haemophilia Centre with an interest in bleeding and thrombosis. She manages patients with congenital bleeding disorders and has also been involved in safe introduction of the new oral anticoagulants in to clinical practice.

 

 

 

Aims :-            

To discuss normal clotting pathways, clotting disorders and current drugs used which may influence patients’ ability to clot after a dental extraction or surgical procedure.

 

Objectives :-    

 

  1. To have an understanding of normal clotting mechanism.

  2. To be aware of congenital and acquired clinical conditions which affect clotting.

  3. To know which drugs are currently used which may affect dental treatment.

 

Learning Outcomes:-

 

To be confident in managing anticoagulated patients, who require dental treatment.
