Educational Supervisor:
Eric qualified in 1999 from the University of Pune. He relocated to the United Kingdom in 2005. Eric has a keen interest in Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry and is currently developing his skills in Implant Dentistry. He is committed to Post Graduate Education and Continuing Professional Development and strives to keep himself updated by attending regular courses.
Practice Information:
The practice has been in its current location since 2008 and was taken over by Eric in 2018. Since then, it has gone through major refurbishment and modernisation. It is a family friendly practice with a good reputation in the area for providing the highest quality dental treatment.
The practice has 2 surgeries which are fully computerised and have all the modern equipment, including Digital Radiography and Rotary Endodontics. There is a well-equipped and modern Central Sterilization room. The practice is supported by friendly staff.
Location and Living:
The Practice is located in Horfield, just off Filton Avenue and has excellent transport links via bus to Bristol City Centre. Filton Abbey Wood train station is only 0.9 miles from the practice. There is plenty of free parking around the practice. The area offers good rental residential properties and is very popular amongst students of both UWE and University of Bristol.

Andrew and Tom qualified from Bristol University in 1995 and 2002 respectively and are co-owners of Portishead Dental Practice. They have been joint trainers on the Bristol & Taunton Schemes for 9 years. The allocation of two Foundation Dentists at the same practice offers a useful extra layer of support for you during your year. Tom and Andrew enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and aim to provide a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere at the practice.

Educational Supervisor:
Alex Poore graduated from King's College London in 2014 and joined the practice initially as a foundation dentist. He has a particular interest in preventive dentistry.
Rebecca Gilliland graduated from Cardiff University in 2016 and has worked in and around the Bristol area ever since. She has a keen interest in removable prosthodontics and treating patients who are highly dental phobic.
Practice Information:
A long established, mixed, family practice. We see NHS, Denplan and Private fee per item patients. It is a busy practice with four surgeries, digital radiographs, including OPG, digital scanner, intra-oral scanner and lateral ceph and a networked computer system. We have a friendly and professional team, including a hygienist and a therapist. The practice also offers implants and has a full time Orthodontist.

The practice is in Stroud Gloucestershire, a south Cotswold market town, which is in easy reach of Bath, Bristol and Birmingham. In the past FD’s have either stayed locally or commuted, depending on their individual circumstances.

Suganthy Suthagar qualified at the University of Sheffield. She has been an educational supervisor for ten years. With special interest in cosmetic dentistry. Outside of dentistry Suganthy’s interests are walking, reading and travelling. arranging course.

The dental practice was established in the 1980’s, Suganthy took the practice over 12 years ago and renovated the whole practice 7 years ago, making it into a bespoke dental surgery. The practice has recently been taken over by BUPA. The practice has five surgeries, which comprises of five dentists and a dental hygienist, it is staffed by an experienced team of nurses. We also offer specialist dental treatment in Oral Surgery, Implants and Periodontology.
Location and Living:
BUPA Dental Care is situated slightly out of the city centre, there is plenty of accommodation in surrounding neighbourhoods’ and there is a reasonable bus service. We have a large carpark at the practice with plenty of parking spaces.

JDFCT Year 2 Practice
Please note: This position is linked to the SW Bristol 2 year JDFCT post. It is therefore allocated to those Foundation Dentists in their year 2 rotation of this scheme.
Educational Supervisors:
Matthew qualified from Bristol Dental School in 1999 and have been an educational supervisor since 2005. Since qualifying I have also gained a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies in 2007 and 30 credits for a Dental Education in Practice Course in 2010.
I find training foundation dentists extremely rewarding and have gained a lot of knowledge and experience during my many years as an educational supervisor. I have lost none of my enthusiasm for the role and thoroughly enjoy the process of helping a new graduate become a confident and capable independent practitioner during their foundation year.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, renovating my house and I am a keen gardener.
Practice Information:
The practice sees a wide range of patients but is primarily a family practice. There are four air-conditioned surgeries. We have a part-time orthodontist and hygienist. The practice is fully computerised and uses Software of Excellence’s Exact system and we also have Vistascan digital radiography. The surgeries are fully equipped with everything you will need including the use of a rotary endodontic system.
The practice is busy and will provide the foundation dentist with a wealth of experience in all the disciplines of general dental practice. Full nursing and reception support will be provided. The practice welcomed its first foundation dentist in 1997and has been a training practice ever since. We have a great team at Yate and they are very knowledgeable in providing the support a new graduate needs in their first year out of university, ensuring you will have happy and successful year with us.

The practice is situated in the heart of a busy shopping centre in the outskirts of Bristol. Within two minutes walk there is a library, cinema and sports centre, not to mention an abundance of places to eat and shop. Free parking is also provided.
Yate has all the amenities you could possibly want should you choose to live locally. However, a lot of the previous foundation dentists have chosen to live in Bristol and commute to work, this is approximately a 30–35-minute car journey.
Transport links are good, with easy access to both the M4 and M5. There is also a bus and train station within walking distance of the practice.

Frederick Tomas graduated in Stockholm, Sweden in 1992. In 2003 he acquired Ashley Down Dental Care where he now works as a GDP with a special interest in endodontics. Outside of dentistry Frederick enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and he hosts a great barbecue.

Ashley Down Dental Care was founded in 1954, andacquired by Frederick Tomas in 2003. We care for several thousand mixed NHS and private patients across four surgeries; each of which is fully fitted with digital radiography equipment. We are also equipped with an Itero intraoral scanner for restorative and cosmetic procedures.
The practice team comprises four experienced dentists, a hygienist and dedicated team of nurses, receptionists and admin staff.

Bristol is a lively city located centrally to South West England. The practice itself is situated on Gloucester road which has a strong focus on local business and is well-known for hosting the longest row of independent shops in Europe.
There are good public transport links within the city and also to Bath, Swindon, Chippenham and Newport. The practice has nearby bus links to both major train stations in the city. You may wish to live nearer the northern half of the city, in order to avoid driving through the centre of town during rush hour. While the practice doesn’t have its own car park, there are many options in the immediate local area for parking.

Educational Supervisor:
Vassia qualified in 1997 as a general dental practitioner and has since gained a postgraduate qualification from University of Bristol (DPDs) and a masters degree (L.LM) from Cardiff University. She is currently holding the position of Clinical Advisor/Expert Witness with the General Dental Council.

We are a 3 surgery practice and pride ourselves on being a well-run team with great communication.
